The previous week's defeat to Ifield was quickly sent packing as the team got back the winning formula against a youthful and useful Bexhill side, freshly relegated from the Premier league, and hence without the services of Monty Panesar this season.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, but struggled to get on top of an accurate Worthing attack on what appeared to be a batter-friendly surface and outfield. Tim Hambridge was the mainstay of the Bexhill innings with a watchful 109, with Andy Lutwyche belying his veteran status to claim 4 for 56 from 21 unchanged overs, most of the runs coming through back square leg off Hambridge, and Benn Challen continued his good form with the ball by taking 3 for 43. Bexhill finished on 187 for 9.
In reply Ben Chambers once again proved difficult to remove with 58 valuable runs, with contributions from skipper Michale Gould (24), Challen (25) and the returning Darryl Rebbetts (33), but it was left to Andy Reid and Lutwyche to take the hosts over the line with an over to spare and 4 wickets in hand.
Worthing return to the promotion positions after a week's absence.
