This can only be described as a convincing win by a margin of 151 runs. Having been put in by the visitors the Worthing top order made hay on a good batting wicket and a lightning outfield. Dave Marshallsay's 107 not out was the lynchpin of the innings, but he was well supported by Dave Rogers' classy 52 and Justin Watts' hard hitting 77. With the score at 293 for 3 after 37 overs, skipper Watts opted to declare to give his bowlers the chance to get Lewes out.
The bowling was dominated by veteran seamer Paul Westlake as he gained career best figures of 17.5-4-48-9 and joined the "9 for" Club. A terrific effort by everyone, but Marshallsay and Westlake can be particularly pleased with their afternoons.
Having got so close in the previous two games, it's great to get a win under the belt.
