Sponsored Walk

Thank you to all those who came along last Saturday - fantastic effort by you all, especially the ones with shorter legs than the rest of us.

Thanks to your efforts we are good to go, so expect a very different looking pavilion this coming season!

Thursday 20 January 2011

Just a couple of days to go!

Last chance to sponsor someone or get some sponsors yourself!

Please support the club in any way you can.

Weather's going to be nice too!

County Ground to County Ground Walk - The Route! 22.1.2011

At least this is the walk Lutters will be doing, and he’s leading the pack!
Feel free to walk a longer route, especially if you are being sponsored per mile, but make sure either you are an adult or you are accompanied by one.

  • Start at Sussex County Cricket Ground – Eaton Road, Hove.
  • Head south on Selbourne Road, cross at the zebra crossing on to First Avenue, then cross at the traffic lights on the A259.
  • Head west along the seafront past Hove lagoon.
  • There is a road that goes on the sea side of Shoreham harbour called Basin Road South, head west along there until you reach “Carats CafĂ©”.
  • At this point you will need to cross over the water on the locks – they are signposted.
  • Once north of the harbour, head west along the A259 (there’s no other route I’m afraid). There are a couple of places where the pavement is quite narrow, so take care.
  • As you enter Shoreham High Street, cross over the River Adur on the footbridge – opposite the Ferry Public House.
  • On the south side of the river, turn right and head up to the seafront on the first road, called Ferry Road.
  • Head west along the South Coast Cycle Path (Beach Road) – this will take you all the way the Worthing.
  • When you reach what was formerly the Half Brick Pub (on the kink in the road), cross at the traffic lights.
  • Head north on Ham Road, crossing at the traffic lights on the junction with Lyndhurst Road.
  • Keep heading north, past the entrance to the industrial estate.
  • At Sheridan Road turn left and follow it round to Beaumont Road, turn left and then right into Georgia Avenue and the end!
Hooray!

Enjoy a drink and something to eat in the pavilion (Worthing Hockey Club are kindly donating bar profits from the day). There should be a copy of the plans to see as well.

Juniors - Indoor Nets and Subscription Forms

Dear All,

Just a quick reminder that membership forms need to be coming in for the coming season, and coupled with that are the indoor nets forms. As always we are a bit limited on space for indoor nets, so the earlier we get the forms, the more likely you are to get a place.

Don't forget the Sponsored Walk on Saturday 22nd January!

One Day Internationals

England, having won the Ashes are now embraking upon a series of two Twenty20 internationals and 7 ODIs. I know that the World Cup is around the corner, but 7! Surely this is overkill - the 50 over format is struggling a little in my view, with ticket prices too high and periods of absolute boredom in the middle overs. Is there really a need for so many.

I hope that the cricket authorities don't saturate the market like they did with Twenty20. People only have so much disposable income, and would you rather have fewer games played in front of packed terraces or more games in front of echo-y stands?

The World Cup itself goes on for long enough (2 months or so) - how much do we need?

County Ground to County Ground Walk - 22.1.2011

Don't forget to collect sponsors for this so we can have a superb pavilion accessible to all, the easiest way is through Just Giving.

Starts at the County Ground in Hove at 11am on Saturday 22nd January, 2011.

Go to http://www.worthingcc.com/ for more details.

See you all there!

Welcome!

You can really see what's on the badge - crumbs! Nice fruit basket.

This will contain quick news items and match reports that we can't put on the main site, but doesn't replace the website (http://www.worthingcc.com/) which has all the detailed information you could ever need, including fixtures, squad number availability and details of events.
