23.7.11 - 5th XI v Felbridge & Sunnyside 3rd XI

Back after a week off for rain we had a local…home game at Felbridge and Sunnyside…Thanks to our pitch at Hill Barn being in an unusable state thanks to travellers at Hill Barn!
Many thanks to the Felbridge Captain Steve Lovell and his wife Debbie for helping with arranging the pitch and the teas, without them I don’t think we would have had a facility to play at.
We started by being given the toss as most of our team went to the wrong ground and both captains agreed it made sense for us to bat first. Adam Bastable (89) and Jack Stuart (62) opened well and gave us a great start with an opening stand of 158. Adam Squires in at number 3 for the first time in a while did a solid job scoring (37*). Other useful runs from Neil Harris (21), Marc Hinton (11) and Glenn Harris (7*) helped us to a total of 236-4 declared after 47 overs.
After tea, which must have been good as it all went quickly, Felbridge started their chase. Jack Stuart (1-11) made the early breakthrough with the left handed opener chipping one just over Squires who took the catch going backwards at mid on. Greg Harris started well (5-36) was wicketless in his first spell but came back and cleaned up the lower order with some accurate full deliveries. James Belton (2-24) had another good day at Hook Lane and bowled Paul Aldridge who was looking like he could see them to a draw. Harry Reeves bowled with good pace again and took a good (1-23). Luc Hinton got the prize scalp of the Felbridge captain taking (1-2). Other catches from Neil Harris, Harry Reeves and Jack Stuart.
A very strong performance and very good fielding sees us take another 30 points and still remain 8 behind Horsham who also picked up a convincing win.
