A great day for the club as the first team secured their second win of the season, with the seconds and the fifths breaking their duck for 2012.
The 1s travelled to Hastings with nothing to lose against the league leaders. A rapid opening spell from John Glover backed up by a miserly spell from Luke Vinter kept Hastings under wraps. Glover finished with 3 for 57, the off spin of Benn Challen claimed 3 for 82 from 18 overs and Andy Lutwyche claimed a wicket on his return from injury. Hasting racked up 252 foir 8 which was about par on a good batting surface and quick outfield.
In reply Worthing chased the total successfully, with great innings from Matt Norris who scored at basically a run-a-ball for 84, skipper Darryl Rebbetts 70, Benn Challen 30 and Brad James 21. With 7 overs remaining the visitors required 43, but cometh the hour, cometh the man and vice-captain Lutwyche strode in to smash 35 not out from just 20 balls and see Worthing home by 5 wickets with an over to spare.
The seconds too were not necessarily expecting to get much out of their fixture with second placed Hastings. Worthing batted first with Tom Lund top-scoring with what was ultimately a match-winning 41 in the home side's total of 159, ably supported by Tim Dunn (19), Dave Marshallsay (13), Gary Tester (16), John Kaye (15) and Harry Dunn (17).
Justin Watts' men then bowled Hastings out for just 135 with Tester (3 for 78), Paul Westlake (3 for 31) and Shane Felton (3 for 6) being the destroyers-in-chief.
The fifths played at Barns Greenand knocked up 229 for 2 from their 40 overs, with Adam Bastable hitting an unbeaten century and Glenn Haris 75. Dave Leader chipped in with 30 not out and Lloyd Crathern 15.
In reply the hosts could only manage 140 for 8 to give Bastable's men their first victory of the season, with Tom Sales, James belton and Dan Stuart each taking 2 wickets, Hary Reeves and Jack Westlake taking a wicket a-piece.

Senior Results - 9.6.12
The First Eleven got off the mark with a comprehensive victory against Brighton & Hove at the delight that is The Nevil. Having won the toss skipper Darryl Rebbetts stuck the hosts in, and immediately we saw what we'd been missing as John Glover steamed in for his first bowl for the club, removing double centurian Chris Liddle in his opening spell of 1 for 14 off 6 pacy overs. Luke Vinter picked up a wicket too, but the main damage was done by Benn Challen (4 for 39) and debutant Mason Crane (4 for 35), including a hat-trick to polish off the innings for just 116.
Worthing chased down their target in the 28th over with Michael Gould smashing 61, Ben Chambers 15 and Bann Challen 24 not out. 30 points and hopefully the first of many victories!
The Seconds had a very younthful look to their side with weddings depriving them off the experienced players. Brighton and Hove batted first and knocked up 227 for 9, with the wickets being shared around, with Martyn Swift taking 2 for 28 and a wicket each for every other bowler!
In reply the home side were on the ropes until Mayur Patel (39), Harry Dunn (26) and Nick Ballamy (19) got stuck in. The side held on 9 down for a total of 161.
There was drama for the Third team as they tied with Clayton and Belgrave Adelaide, with both sides hitting 161. Worthing batted first, losing 8 wickets in the process, with Tom Chambers knocking up another half century with 59, Dave Leader 28 and Dan Stuart 21.
Top of the table Adelaide looked favourites to win the game until Dave Leader (4 for 22), Sanjeev Kalra (3 for 44) and Luke Barnes (3 for 31) did the damage with the ball. Tempers got a little heated at the end on both sides but ultimately cricket was the winner!
The fourth team couldn't get enough cars up to Serendib due to another wedding!
The less said about the Fifths, the better according to skipper Adam Bastable, as they succumbed to West Blatchington 2nd XI. Blatch batted first and made 165 for 7, with Greg Harris taking 4 for 21, Harry Reeves 2 for 41 and a wicket for Glenn Harris. In reply Worthing got just 35 all out, with Glenn Harris hitting 34 and there being one bye.
