Senior Results - 19.7.14

1st v Goring (Away):
A wet wicket made the toss crucial and the start delayed. Luke Vinter won it and inserted the hosts who proceeded to lose two quick wickets. Overseas bowler Corey Altis finished with 2 for 23, Benn Challen 2 for 14 and Andy Lutwyche 4 for 29 as Goring were bowled out for 123.

Worthing made heavy weather of the chase, achieving their target for the loss of 6 wickets as Matt Green scored a quickfire 29 and Challen 38 to record Vinter's side's first win in 6 games.

Scorecard

2nd XI v Goring (Home):
Tom Lund won the toss and elected to chase whatever Goring set, which turned out to be 168. Martyn Swift claimed 5 for 38 and he was ably supported by Shane Felton's 2 for 64 and Adam Squires' 2 for 13.

Lund's men were skittled however, for just 138 in a surprise loss with Dave Leader top scoring with 45. The game was marred slightly by some unsporting behaviour on Goring's behalf as Worthing were forced to field with essentially 9 men due to injuries.

Scorecard

3rd XI v Aldwick (Home):
Tim Dunn's men drew against Aldwick having lost the toss and electing to field first. The opposition made 222 for 7 in their 47 overs with Harvey von Biel claiming 2 for 21 and Jack Westlake 2 for 25.

The reply was littered with starts who failed to go no and make a winning contribution as it stumble to 166 for 9 with the top score being captain Tim Dunn's 25.

Scorecard

4th XI v Broadwater (Away):
Having been asked to make first use of the track at "The Green" Glenn Harris' men accumulated 246 all out with the skipper making 91, Neil Harris 31 and Greg Harris 33 in what can only be described as a family affair.

The hosts stuttered to 182 all out Anthony Kane took 3 for 50 and there were two wickets each for Greg Harris, Robson Piper and Andrew Culver.

Senior Results - 17.5.14

1st XI v Goring (Home):
A comfortable win for Worthing in this local derby. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat on a pitch that looked good but lacked pace. Wickets were shared between the bowlers as captain Luke Vinter claimed 3 for 16, Benn Challen 3 for 7, Nick Oxley 2 for 36 and Andy Lutwyche 2 for 15 withe batsmen having two choices: block or slog, in their total of 101 in just under 33 overs.

The reply didn't start well as Andy Reid and Oxley went to the first two balls of the innings but Matt Green (57 not out) and Challen (29) steadied the ship, then Stuart Carter (13 not out) saw his side over the line and up to 4th in the league.

Scorecard

2nd XI v Goring (Away):
A frustrating game for the seconds as they played all the cricket only to be thwarted by stoic defense from Goring's number eleven. Having been asked to bat first Worthing amassed 248 for 3 with Brad James scoring a fine 103 not out, Gary Tester 85 and contributions from Martyn Swift (19) and Tom Lund (25).

Goring's reply never got going as wickets fell at regular intervals. Swift took 4 for 27, Shane Felton 3 for 35 and Tester 1 for 12, but the hosts held on for a draw and 1 point compared to Worthing's 14 points.

Scorecard

3rd XI v Aldwick (Away):
This trip to the seaside didn't go to plan for the Chairman's 3rd XI. Tim Dunn won the toss and opted to bowl as the hosts racked up 218 for 5 from 46 overs. Paul Westlake took 3 for 36 and there was a wicket each for Jack Dunn and Adam Squires.

The chase never looked like being successful with only Tim Dunn (19) and Kevin Punter (36) reaching double figures as the visitors succumbed for 69.in under 25 overs.

Scorecard

4th XI v Broadwater (Home):
The second derby of the day saw Glenn Harris win the toss and elect to bowl. The visitors scored 158 for 9 from their 40 overs as Robson Piper bagged 3 for 37, James Belton 3 for 33 and a wicket a-piece for Greg Harris, Sanjeev Kalra and Andy Culver.

The reply stuttered to 85 all out with only Kalra (32) and Culver (15) reaching double figures.

Senior Results - 8.6.13

1st XI v Horsham (Away):

A slightly depleted side travelled to Horsham and elected to field under stand-in captain Luke Vinter on what looked a typically batsman friendly track. A whirlwind start from Michael Gould (60) at almost a run per ball, but a mini-collapse saw few hit double figures except Alex Harris (19), but the ship was steadied by Ian Gooding (46) who played excellently and Ollie Rogers (19) until the latter was dismissed. Andy Lutwyche (44 not out) took the score up to 205 when this seemed unlikely at 100 for 6.

Horsham struggled to their target and made it with 8 wickets down as Benn Challen claimed 4 for 88 and Vinter 3 for 42, and Malcolm Lake took the other wicket courtesy of a superb diving catch at slip from Challen.

Again the side didn't get the runs required to quite win the game, but a spirited effort with the ball and in the field almost reaped unlikely reward.

Scorecard

2nd XI v Hellingly (Home):

Worthing breezed to an easy win as Hellingly opted to bat and succumbed for just 58 in the face of some solid bowling from the hosts. Martyn Swift took 5 for 6 from 7 overs and Andy Reid 4 for 16, including a hat-trick, with Shane Felton claiming the other wicket.

Reid (29) and Brad Lewis (22 not out) knocked of the runs in under 15 overs to give Worthing a 30 point haul. Little more to say!

Scorecard

3rd XI v Aldwick (Away):

Skipper Tim Dunn won the toss and elected to bat as Worthing scored 199 all out. Dunn (47), Kevin Punter (43), Glenn Harris (35), Josh Wood (23) and Rob Whittington (17) all got starts and possibly should have taken the score well over 200 hundred.

Aldwick reached their target just 5 wickets down with Jack Dunn (2 for 26), Punter and Harris taking the wickets.

Scorecard

4th XI v Horsham Trinity (Home):
