Worthing's new look side snuck over the line by a few runs at Sea Lane on Saturday. Under the captaincy of Michael Gould for the first time Worthing posted 148 for 9 in their 40 overs, with Darryl Rebbetts scoring 51 and Brad James a watchful 35 (ish - I'm doing this from memory folks).
In reply Middelton looked to be cruising until the skipper brought himself on and the game was polished off in the final over with the hosts number 11 holing out to Rebbetts on the boundary.
A good work out against a decent Middleton side containing Worthing favourites Andy "The Only Man" Lutwyche and Richard "Jesse" James, but the batting will have to improve next week against Horsham and into the league.
